Embryo Transfer Patient Care Guide

Timing

Please note the date and time of your Embryo Transfer carefully and reach the hospital at least 3 hours before the scheduled time. Late arrival should be avoided.

Before Leaving Home

• Perform vaginal cleaning using lukewarm water before coming. You may bathe and use the toilet, but ensure vaginal cleaning after using the toilet.
• Remove all jewellery before coming.
• Eat your meal before coming and carry food with you.
• Do not apply perfume, deodorant, oil, or any scented products.
• Bring your complete medicine packet and all prescribed injections.

Regular Medicines

If you take regular medicines for thyroid, blood pressure, or diabetes, continue them as advised on the day of Embryo Transfer.

Rest

Complete bed rest for 4 days is mandatory. You may go to the toilet on your own. After 4 days, light routine activities (simple household work) are allowed. After 6 days, you may climb stairs slowly once a day.

Food & Drink

• Drink plenty of water and fluids.
• Eat green leafy vegetables. Take isabgol if needed to prevent constipation.
• Avoid very spicy, very oily, and outside unhygienic food.
• Alcohol and smoking are strictly prohibited.

Activity Restrictions

• Avoid heavy lifting, bending, squatting, and strenuous physical activity.
• Avoid: taking out clothes from washing machine, pulling filled buckets, floor cleaning.
• Avoid long-distance driving and travel on uneven or bumpy roads.
• If you have pain at the injection site, apply ice fomentation.

Discharge & Medicines

• Watery vaginal discharge is common due to medicines — maintain proper hygiene, do not worry.
• Do not take any medication without consulting the IVF unit. Do not miss any dose or stop medicines even if you notice spotting.
• Sexual intercourse should be avoided until permitted by the doctor.

Pregnancy Test (β-HCG)

Serum β-HCG test must be done on Day 16 after Embryo Transfer. Continue all medicines even after the test, unless advised otherwise by the doctor.

घर से निकलने से पहले

• सभी गहने उतार दें।
• भोजन करके आएँ और अपना भोजन साथ लेकर आएँ।
• कोई भी परफ्यूम, डियोड्रेंट, तेल या सुगंधित उत्पाद न लगाएँ।
• सभी दवाओं का पूरा पैकेट एवं सभी निर्धारित इंजेक्शन साथ लेकर आएँ।

नियमित दवाइयाँ

यदि आप थायरॉइड, ब्लड प्रेशर या डायबिटीज की नियमित दवाएँ लेती हैं, तो एम्ब्रियो ट्रांसफर के दिन भी डॉक्टर की सलाह अनुसार लें।

आराम

4 दिन का पूर्ण बेड रेस्ट अनिवार्य है। आप स्वयं शौचालय जा सकती हैं। 4 दिन बाद हल्के घरेलू काम करें। 6 दिन बाद दिन में एक बार धीरे-धीरे सीढ़ियाँ चढ़ सकती हैं।

खान-पान

• पर्याप्त पानी और तरल पदार्थ पिएँ।
• हरी पत्तेदार सब्ज़ियाँ खाएँ। कब्ज के लिए इसबगोल लें।
• बहुत तीखा, बहुत तैलीय और बाहर का अस्वच्छ भोजन न करें।
• शराब और धूम्रपान पूरी तरह वर्जित हैं।

गतिविधि प्रतिबंध

• भारी सामान न उठाएँ, झुकना और अधिक शारीरिक मेहनत से बचें।
• वॉशिंग मशीन से कपड़े निकालना, भरी बाल्टी खींचना, फर्श की सफाई न करें।
• लंबी दूरी तक वाहन चलाने और उबड़-खाबड़ रास्तों पर यात्रा से बचें।
• इंजेक्शन वाली जगह पर दर्द हो तो बर्फ की सिकाई करें।

डिस्चार्ज एवं दवाइयाँ

• दवाओं के कारण पतला योनि स्राव होना सामान्य है — उचित स्वच्छता बनाए रखें, चिंता न करें।
• IVF यूनिट से सलाह किए बिना कोई दवा न लें। स्पॉटिंग दिखने पर भी कोई खुराक न छोड़ें या दवा बंद न करें।
• डॉक्टर की अनुमति मिलने तक यौन संबंध से बचें।

β-HCG टेस्ट

एम्ब्रियो ट्रांसफर के 16वें दिन Serum β-HCG टेस्ट अनिवार्य है। जाँच के बाद भी सभी दवाएँ जारी रखें जब तक डॉक्टर अन्यथा न कहें।
